We Think This Tastes Like:

  • Nectarine
  • Sticky date
  • Vanilla

Part of the Rwandan coffee story that we find so incredibly compelling and moving, are the stories of the Women who rebuilt their communities after the horrific genocide of 1994.

As with every year, we get really excited about Rwanda season. The coffees are stunning, the stories human and the ability to have some genuine positive impact on our supply chain is real.

This year we were fortunate enough to secure four single producer lots, quite rare in Rwanda, from four incredible women from the Rambagirakawa Women’s Group.

Our final lot from this amazing group of women is a sweet and complex coffee from Victoria Mukamurenzi.

Victoria began working in coffee at a very young age, helping on her parents' farm in the 1980s. Once married, Victoria and her husband planted their farm and she has her own plot of 216 trees. To read more about Victoria, how she became the vice president of Rambagirakawa and what that means to her, we defer to our import partners Melbourne Coffee Merchants

We are very grateful to our friends Aislinn & Fleur, at Melbourne Coffee Merchants, for sharing these connections with us and to Laurence for her incredible coffee.

This Red Bourbon lot is deliciously sweet with notes of nectarine and sticky date pudding, with a hint of vanilla in the finish.

For each lot we are showcasing from Rambagirakawa, we will be donating to the Supporting Strong Women campaign introduced by MCM. This campaign raises funds for Rambagirakawa a women’s association within the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative in Rwanda’s Northern Province. Since forming in 2012, the all-women group has advocated tirelessly for greater autonomy, support and resources for Dukunde Kawa’s female landowners and coffee farmers.

OUR STORY

We know coffee.

We’ve been obsessing over it for years and years.

And, yes, we know we can come across as stuck up hipsters.

We know it all seems a bit pretentious & unnecessary, even a bit scary.

So our mission is simple. Make honest, delicious & curious coffee.

All are welcome, all you need is a smile & a mug.
